Herath dreams of winning a Test series in India
Sri Lanka’s veteran spinner Rangana Herath says it is “one of his dreams” to win a Test series in India, saying the recent victory over Pakistan will give the team confidence.
The 39-year-old Herath will be a key figure when Sri Lanka tour India later this month for a three-match Test series, starting in Kolkata on 16 November.
Sri Lanka beat Pakistan two-nil in a two-match series in the UAE in their last series.
Herath tol Cricbuzz: “It’s one of my dreams. How wonderful it would be to win a Test match in India as we have never won there before.
“The series win in Pakistan has given us lot of confidence. That winning mentality is important.”
India whitewashed Sri Lanka in Sri Lank earlier this year and Herath admitted that he and the team struggled to contain the rampant Indian batting line-up.
India notched up big scores in all three Tests with totals of over 400 throughout the series.
Herath continued: “The India series at home, I wasn’t able to take wickets All of us struggled.
“We were not able to break the partnerships and they went onto post 600-plus runs and from there on it was difficult for us.”
