- Test debut v Sri Lanka at Harare - May 2004.
- ODI debut v Sri Lanka at Bulawayo - April 2004.
- He made his first-class debut for Mashonaland A just before his 16th birthday, and scored a fifty in a tight situation in just his second match.
- Unexpectedly thrust into the Zimbabwe national team against Sri Lanka at the age of 19 when the 'rebel' players withdrew, but was not given the chance to bat or bowl on his debut.
- He came to prominence in the Caribbean in 2006 when he used good flight to achieve an excellent economy rate.
- His appointment as captain for the series against Bangladesh in July 2006 came as a surprise, but he came of age over the years.
