- Son of former SA international KA McKenzie.
- Started out as a middle-order batsman in the Test side before being bumped to the top of the order.
- Scored his maiden Test ton in only his fifth Test - against New Zealand in Port Elizabeth in 2000.
- After several years in the international wilderness, he scored a double century as he shared a 415-run opening stand with Graeme Smith against Bangladesh in 2008.
- His second stint in international cricket didn't last too long though and it was too long before he was dropped from the South Africa side again.
- Still does the business in domestic cricket in South Africa and England and has stints with Hampshire and Durham in recent years.
