Career summary

- Test Debut v Sri Lanka at Colombo - July 2002.

- ODI debut v Sri Lanka at Colombo - August 2002.

- Scored half centuries in two consecutives Tests against the West Indies in 2002.

- Scored a career best 89 not out of just 92 balls against the West Indies at the end of 2002.

- At 19 became the youngest bowler, and first Bangladeshi to take a hat-trick in Test cricket against Pakistan in August 2003.

- After a run of poor performances he was left out of the national squad for the Champions Trophy in England in 2004.

- Recalled to the national set-up in early 2006, he was unable to nail down a permanent place in the Bangladesh squad.

- Joined the rebel Indian Cricket League and was therefore banned from international cricket. A year later he quit the ICL, making himself eligible once again for international selection.

- Was included in the 30-man provisional squad for the World T20 in the Caribbean in 2010, missing out on the final 15 spots.
