-First entered the national team as a T20 batsman, but despite having little success in the shortest format was selected for New Zealand's one-day and Test squad's to tour England in 2008.
- Will be remembered by many for having to leave the field at Old Trafford with blood pouring from his mouth and with two fewer teeth after being hit in the face by a James Anderson bouncer in only his second Test.
- Showed enough promise to be awarded a central contract for the 08/09 season.
- After struggling to make the most of his opportunities at Test level, Flynn was left out of New Zealand's squad to face Australia in March 2010.
