Career summary

- In only his second Test Match he scored 274 against England at Edgbaston in 1971.

- Counties queued up to sign him after this early success and he ended up playing for Gloucestershire for thirteen years.

- He made a century in each innings in a first class match on eight occasions, a world record on four of those occasions making a double hundred and a hundred.

- He became just the second batsman to score his 100th first-class century in a Test Match and is still the only Asian to have achieved that feat.
