- The Pakistan tour is where he made his name, getting 12 wickets in 3 Test's including his best figures of 4 for 63.
- Balaji picked up and injury on the tour of England and was out for almost a year, but on his return he picked up 9 wickets against Pakistan in the first Test in 2005. Sadly as the series went on he was less successful and didn't receive another Test call-up.
- He had another chance in ODI cricket in 2009, but went wicketless against Sri Lanka.
