England Lions collapsed to 96 all out as they lost their first one-day match against Pakistan A by 83 runs in Dubai.

Having lost opener Craig Kieswetter to the senior side, Andrew Gale's team were roundly beaten as they failed to get anywhere close to their target of 180.

Test batsman Ian Bell spared them from even further embarrassment as he compiled nearly half of the total to finish 46 not out.

Only two other batsman, Gale (17) and Steven Davies (21), made double figures as Raza Hasan (three for 16) and Abdur Rehman (four for 25) routed the Lions.

The bowlers acquitted themselves somewhat better by bowling their opponents out for 179.

Yorkshire spinner David Wainwright impressed with figures of three for 26 from his 10 overs, while Sajid Mahmood and Chris Woakes took two wickets apiece.

Pakistan A opener Mohammad Hafeez's 51 early in the game was the top score of the day.
