Sri Lanka Under-19 bounced back from a heavy defeat in the series opener to trounce their England counterparts by five wickets in their second Youth ODI at the Arundel Castle Cricket Club Ground on Monday.

After winning the toss and opting to bat first, home captain Paul Best watched from the pavilion has the bulk of his batting order, bar Lewis Gregory, failed in the face of a buoyed Sri Lankan attack.

Gregory's 87 runs from 146 balls was the backbone of another otherwise brittle order, which could only amass 175 all out in 49.4 overs.

Sanitha de Mel and Nadeera Rajaguru were the pick of the bowlers, claiming three for 23 and three for 33 respectively.

In reply, the youngster from the sub-continent were always on target to achieve a modest chase, bringing up a series-squaring victory in the 35th over.

Kithuruwan Vithanage led the way with a solid 51 not out, while Best's two for 38 was of little consolation for the hosts.

The teams meet again for the third of five clashes on Tuesday.
