Rain has forced the second one-day international between Bangladesh and New Zealand to be abandoned.

Persistent rain in Dhaka led to the outfield becoming unplayable and with no signs of an improvement in the weather the match was soon lost.

Match officials held a final pitch inspection at 11am local time but it quickly became clear that the match could not go ahead.

Bangladesh are 1-0 up in the five-match series following their nine-run victory in Mirpur on Tuesday.

The third ODI is due to take place in Mirpur on Monday.
