Younus Khan believes the refusal of some teams to play Tests and one-day internationals in Pakistan is hurting cricket in his country.
Khan, who is playing currently for South Australia, said the situation was not only frustrating for the players but for the fans too.
"At the moment we need some cricket in Pakistan. That's why we had the tour of Toronto - a shorter version of cricket but it's good for us," he said.
"The last three or four months we can't play any international cricket so we are suffering. Maybe they could organise a neutral venue or something like that.
"If you are not playing international cricket in your own country, the popularity will go down so it will especially be affecting the young children."
Khan said Pakistan people were still keen to see the Australians tour.
"People, especially in Pakistan, they love to watch Aussie cricketers like Ricky Ponting so they are missing that," he said.
The 30-year-old's comments came only a day after Pakistan coach Geoff Lawson called for the Pakistan Cricket Board to arrange more games to revive the sport.
