Uncapped Lonwabo Tsotsobe didn't know whether to cry or laugh when he was included in South Africa's 15-man squad for the tour of Australia next month.
Tsotsobe, a left-arm seemer who has the ability to swing the ball both ways, earned a call-up to the national side after some impressive performances for the Warriors in the SuperSport Series. He has claimed 16 wickets in four matches and is only second behind provincial team-mate Makhaya Ntini in the bowling averages.
His mother Nomgqibelo told The Herald her son was thrilled with his inclusion in the Proteas squad.
"He is over the moon. He called me on Friday and said he did not know whether to cry or not. I told him to cry and give thanks to God," she said.
Coach Mickey Arthur says the 24-year-old will add variety to the South African attack.
"He's tall and gets bounce and swing," said Arthur.
"His inclusion would add variety to our attack. We want to get him to get the feel of international cricket."
