New Zealand clinched the NatWest Women's International T20 series with a nine-run victory over England at Hove.

The White Ferns, who had on Thursday levelled the series at the Rose Bowl, won the toss and elected to bat, passing the half-century mark without loss, as opener Suzie Bates top-scored with 26.

Sara McGlashan - who yesterday hit 47 - was out for just one as she was caught and bowled by Danielle Hazell, the Yorkshirewoman claiming an impressive three for 16 from her four overs including both openers.

New Zealand posted 124 for eight with Sophie Devine (23) and number six Nicola Browne (22) also contributing.

England, the 2009 World Twenty20 winners, struggled in reply, reaching 36 for two in the ninth over as opener Sarah Taylor went for only 12 and Laura Marsh was also out cheaply.

However, with two overs left, England had pressed on to 91 for seven, Staffordshire's Danielle Wyatt top-scoring on 16.

But despite a brave unbeaten 15 from tail-ender Katherine Brunt, it was the tourists who closed out for victory as Lucy Doolan and Sophie Devine both claimed three wickets each.
