Rubel: Rise in Test rankings will boost Bangladesh

Bangladesh seamer Rubel Hossain believes the Tigers’ rise in the Test rankings will give them a boost ahead of their tour to the West Indies that is set to take place in July.
The Asian team moved ahead of the Windies into eighth place in the latest ICC Test rankings, the highest Bangladesh have ever been since they were given Test status 18 years ago.
The Tigers are likely to play two Tests, three ODIs and two T20Is against the West Indies in what will be Asian side’s first tour to the Caribbean in four years.
Rubel said: “We are ahead of them in the Test ranking, which is an achievement for us.
“They are behind us in the table and I believe this will work in their minds when we face them in the Test series.
“Our batsmen and bowlers will be more confident, compared to them. I am sure progress in the ranking will help us but for a good result we also need to quickly cope with the condition there, which is a big challenge for us.”
The Tigers will hope to improve results from their last tour when they were walloped in South Africa at the end of last year.
