Streak earmarks trio for success

Bowling coach Heath Streak has pinpointed seamers Rubel Hossain, Shafiul Islam and Al-Amin Hossain as key to Bangladesh’s bid to defeat Zimbabwe, come the first Test, which will start on Saturday.

Hossain, Islam and Al-Amin have been named in a strong squad for the important series opener. The 14-man collective also includes the uncapped Jubair Hossain and the recalled Shakib Al Hasan, whose suspension has ended.

“I think his Rubel’s potential is much better than his record. It has to do with the periods in between of not playing first-class cricket which helps these guys get into the rhythm of that form of cricket,” Streak told ESPNcricinfo.

“Shafiul has very good skill, so we are just keeping him prepared and injury free. Al-Amin, I think just mentally he has been bit focused on that. It doesn’t matter who you are, you would want to get that out of the way. Once it is done, we can move forward and he can start focusing on this upcoming series a little bit more.”

Bangladesh and Zimbabwe will meet for three Tests. Dhaka will host the first, Khulna the second and Chittagong the third. Five ODIs will follow between 21 November and 1 December.
