Bumrah demolishes Australia’s batting order
Jasprit Bumrah with career-best figures has put India in the box seat after three days to win the third Test against Australia in Melbourne on Friday.
Fast bowler Bumrah finished with figures of 6-33 as Australia were bowled out for a paltry 151 in reply to India’s first innings total of 443/7 declared.
Pat Cummins then took four wickets for the Aussies late in the day as India went to stumps on a wobbly 54/5, but still a commanding lead of 346 with two days still remaining.
However, it was Bumrah that has put India ahead of the game and in the process make them favourites to take a 2-1 lead in the four-match series with one more game still to go after this.
Australia began the day on eight without loss after surviving six overs on Thursday but with the pitch showing wear and tear, it wasn’t long before the bowlers took advantage.
The home side’s woes is shown on their scorecard with the top-score in the innings being only 22, which was by Marcus Harris and captain Tim Paine but both fell victim to the bowling of Bumrah.
Cummins’ late burst has given Australia hope a comeback win India will still be confident of going Sydney for the final Test with a series lead.
