England add Ball to T20 squad as injury cover

England have added Jake Ball as cover to the T20 squad ahead of the upcoming tri-Series against Australia and New Zealand.

The Nottinghamshire bowler will travel with the squad initially for the Australia leg of the triangular tournament, which starts on Wednesday 7 February.

Seamer Liam Plunkett is a doubt for England’s warm-up match against the Prime Minister’s XI on Friday, as he continues his recovery from a hamstring injury picked up in the third ODI against Australia at the SCG.

Chris Jordan is also sidelined with a hamstring niggle while Ales Hales will sit out Friday’s match because of a hand injury.

All three players will hope to be fit for the first IT20 against the Aussies in Hobart on 7 February.

England will look to continue their good form in white-ball cricket as they thrashed Australia four-one in the recent five-match ODI series Down Under.
