Tom Curran set for BBL stint with Sydney Sixers

England seamer Tom Curran has signed a deal to play for the Sydney Sixers in this season’s Big Bash League (BBL), making him the second English player in the Sixers’ squad.

The 23-year-old Curran will be joined at the Sixers by international teammate and Kent allrounder Joe Denly.

Curran has played in two Tests, 11 ODIs and 7 T20Is but it is in the limited-overs formats where he is more of regular with his seam bowling.

His only five-wicket haul in international cricket was in Australia when he took 5-35 against the Aussies in an ODI in Perth earlier this year.

Curran said on the Sixers’ website: “I’m absolutely delighted to be joining the Sydney Sixers for the 2018-19 Big Bash.

“Friends and colleagues have told me what a great team environment it is and how passionate the fans are and I’m hugely excited to experience this all for myself.

“I can’t wait to get to Sydney and hopefully help the team have a great season.”
