Ballance to take break from cricket due to ‘personal reasons’

Yorkshire skipper and England middle order man Gary Ballance is to take a break from cricket for what Yorkshire CCC termed “personal reasons”.
Ballance did not play in the recent County Championship defeat to Surrey and has not been included in the Royal London One-Day Cup squad to face Durham.
Yorkshire have confirmed that they have granted the club captain a leave of absence.
A statement released by the club on Friday read: “Captain Gary Ballance is set to miss several Royal London One-Day Cup fixtures after the Club, this week, granted him some time away from the game due to personal reasons.
“We ask that his privacy be respected during this time.”
Ballance went completely unused on England’s Ashes tour after having his return to the Test XI stunted by injury and patchy form.
He has notched just one fifty in six innings for his county this season with his best effort of 82 coming in the second innings of Yorkshire’s victory over Notts.
Ballance has previously stated his ambition to continue to fight for a place in the England and Yorkshire will no doubt want their skipper at his best when he is able to return.
