Ahead of the third Test starting at the Wanderers, starting on Wednesday, South Africa captain Faf du Plessis says his team will be motivated to complete a series whitewash against India.
The Proteas have already clinched the series after victories at Newlands and Centurion but the home skipper will make sure his team do not ease off in Johannesburg.
Du Plessis told reporters on Tuesday: “Playing against India, you don’t get the opportunity a lot to be in a position of strength where we can beat them three-nil.
“By no means is anyone in the team thinking this is an opportunity to take our foot off the gas.
“We are really motivated to get a three-nil win.”
Du Plessis also said they were thinking about leaving out spinner Keshav Maharaj on a surface that had green tinge to it two days out from the Test.
South Africa could bring in allrounder Andile Phehlukwayo if they want another seamer and bulk up their batting or play an extra batsman in Theunis de Bruyn and just go with four pacemen.
Du Plessis said: “The wicket looks like it should be a normal Wanderers wicket. We’ll just see what the pitch looks like and if there is the same amount of grass on it.
“Keshav is an extremely talented spinner and we are very lucky to have him. If we do think of leaving of him out, you have to be 100% sure that we have enough.”
