India call Thakur up to ODI squad after Bumrah ruled out

Fast bowler Shardul Thakur has been called to India’s ODI squad for the three-match series in England after Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out due to a thumb injury.
Bumrah was already ruled out of the ongoing T20I series and has now also been withdrawn for the 50-over series, that starts on 12 July, having broken his left thumb during India’s 76-run win in the first T20I against Ireland on 27 June.
The BCCI said on Friday that Bumrah had undergone surgery in Leeds on Wednesday before returning to home to recover.
Bumrah is the second India player ruled out of the ODI series after spinner Washington Sundar had to withdraw due to an ankle injury and was replaced in the squad by Axar Patel.
