Bracewell in contention for Kingsmead Test

New Zealand

New Zealand coach Mike Hesson believes Kingsmead's infamous 'green mamba' pitch could be suited to seamer Doug Bracewell.

Bracewell missed out on the Tests in Zimbabwe, with Neil Wagner's ability to extract reverse swing leading to him being preferred in the dry conditions of Bulawayo.

Hesson said of the quick: "I think it's a bit early to know what balance we'll go with in Durban, I would think it's highly likely to be different than here,

"Doug's fit, he's training well, he's batting nicely, we know he's ready to go if we need him."

New Zealand spent two weeks ahead of the Zimbabwe series in a training camp in Pretoria, with the dry highveld winter providing conditions better suited to preparing for a series.

Hesson noted: "It's a lot different to a tent in Christchurch, which was our alternative,

"We are quite comfortable separating the two series … we've got three good days training in Durban to get us up to speed."
