Guptill out of Bangladesh series

Batsman Martin Guptill has been ruled out of New Zealand's tour of Bangladesh due to finger and ankle injuries.
Batsman Martin Guptill has been ruled out of New Zealand's tour of Bangladesh due to finger and ankle injuries.
Guptill fractured a bone in his right hand during a recent stint for the Guyana Amazon Warriors in the Caribbean Premier League. While he won't require surgery, specialists have insisted the finger be immobilised in a splint. A full recovery is expected within five weeks.
Team physiotherapist Paul Close, meanwhile, has confirmed Guptill will undergo surgery on his injured right ankle, which the hard-hitting right-hander has been nursing for almost 12 months.
The Black Caps and Bangladesh will contest two Tests, three ODIs and a one-off Twenty20 International, starting in October. The Test squad will be named by head coach Mike Hesson and new national selection general manager Bruce Edgar on 6 September in Auckland.
