Jofra Archer subjected to ‘racial insults’ during England’s NZ defeat

England fast bowler Jofra Archer says he was subjected to “racial insults” by a spectator during the final day of the first-Test defeat by New Zealand.

The 24-year-old says he heard comments from “one guy” at the Bay Oval.

England lost the Test in Mount Maunganui, the first of a two-match series, by an innings and 65 runs.

Archer scored a second-innings 30 as England failed to bat out the final day.

“A bit disturbing hearing racial insults today whilst battling to help save my team,” Archer posted on social media.

“The crowd was been amazing this week except for that one guy, @TheBarmyArmy was good as usual also.”

The England and Wales Cricket Board is reportedly looking into Archer’s claim.
