New Zealand will be without skipper Brendon Taylor for the third and final ODI against Bangladesh on Sunday, after he picked up a back injury.
McCullum was ruled out after a long-standing lower back niggle reared its head again, and he was sent back home to recover. He was already set to be rested for the series against Sri Lanka later this month.
Kyle Mills, who was named skipper for the Sri Lanka series, is set to lead the team in the final game against the Tigers, which is a dead rubber as the hosts won the series after the second ODI already.
The Black Caps will also be without Kane Williamson, who picked up a broken thumb earlier in the series. He was originally set to skipper the side against Sri Lanka.
