New Zealand fast bowler Mitchell McClenaghan will play for Middlesex for six matches in the Natwest T20 Blast, the county side announced on Tuesday, replacing South Africa paceman Kyle Abbott.

McClenaghan, who is playing for the Mumbai Indians in the IPL at the moment, will arrive at the end of June when Abbott's spell comes to an end, he'll be off to Bangladesh with the Proteas.

The Kiwi pacer will play the last six games of the group stage, and brings with his the experience of 37 ODIs for the Black Caps and 16 T20s.

Middlesex director of cricket Angus Fraser said: "Replacing one high-quality overseas fast bowler with another was not easy but we have managed to do this with the signing of McClenaghan.

"Mitchell’s style, left arm fast, gives him a point of difference and his skill has allowed him to take wickets wherever he has played."

McClenaghan added: "It's every player's dream to play at Lord’s and I am delighted to have the opportunity to do so wearing a Middlesex shirt.

"The club have made a strong start to the season and I can't wait to join up with the squad at the end of June and hopefully contribute towards a challenge for silverware."
