New Zealand veteran Daniel Vettori is set to play for Northern Districts in the Champions League T20 next month, after his Caribbean Premier League side, Jamaica Tallawahs, were ruled out of contention.
Vettori has not played international cricket since June last year, and has not played a TEst since 2012, with his Achilles injury providing all manner of problems every time he tries to make a comeback.
The 35-year-old spinner will play for the Northern Knights in the CLT20 qualifiers in India, starting on 13 September, with their first fixture against the Southern Express from Sri Lanka.
The Knights will be without star all-rounder Corey Anderson though, as he has opted to play for his Indian Premier League team, the Mumbai Indians, who also have to play in the qualifying round.
Black Caps, former and present, Scott Styris, Kane Williamson, Tim Southee, Trent Boult, BJ Watling and Daniel Flynn, are expected to be part of the 15-man squad.
