Williamson expecting Indian spin barrage

New Zealand captain Kane Williamson said he expected the surface in Nagpur, for their opening World T20 encounter against hosts India on Tuesday, to be slow and that they have to adjust their games accordingly.
The 25-year-old Williamson, who is leading the Black Caps now that Brendon McCullum has retired, is expecting India to throw a barrage of spin bowlers at them with Ravi Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Harbhajan Singh and Pawan Negi all in the Indian squad.
Williamson said on Monday: "The pitch will be on the slow side and perhaps take a little turn. In Indian conditions we can expect spin to play a big part and it's important that we adjust our game accordingly."
New Zealand have a proud record against India, having never lost to the Asian side in four previous matches at World T20 events.
However, Williamson said past results will count for nothing when they game starts on Tuesday.
The Kiwi skipper said: "I don't think our previous record has any meaning. We go into the match tomorrow with a clean slate. India is a strong side and Twenty20 cricket is fickle in nature."
Australia, Pakistan and Bangladesh are in the same group as India and New Zealand with the top two qualifying for the semifinals.
