Williamson credits bowlers after big win

New Zealand captain Kane Williamson praised his bowling unit after they wrapped up an innings victory over West Indies inside four days in the first Test in Wellington on Monday.
The Black Caps bowled the visitors out for 326 in their second innings to win by a comprehensive margin an innings and 67 runs to take a one-nil lead in the two-match series.
The home team’s charge was set up on the first day when the visitors were bowled out for just 134, with left-arm paceman Neil Wagner picking up career-best figures of 7-39 with fast short-pitched bowling.
The home side replied in kind with the bat, piling on 520/9, but Williamson said the game was set up on the first day.
REPORT: New Zealand wrap up innings win in Wellington
Williamson said after the game: “I thought in the first innings we were very fortunate, as well as exploiting the bounce in the surface.
“I think a lot of the dismissals weren’t a regular thing you see on the first day of a Test match. Perhaps we were fortunate, but we executed our plans well when we had to adjust.
“In the second innings, the wicket became flatter and we knew it was going to be a tough job to bowl them out and it was.
“It was a great effort with the ball in hand.”
The second and final Test of the series will be played at Seddon Park in Hamilton from Saturday.
