Sri Lanka name strong squad for India ODIs
Sri Lanka have named a strong batting component for their impromptu tour to India early next month, but have named some young faces in the bowling attack for the five-match series.
After the West Indies withdrew from their tour to India, due to a player salary dispute, Sri Lanka stepped in to fill the void, though dates and venues for the series have not yet been confirmed.
Paceman Lahiru Gamage is the one uncapped player named in the 15-man squad, with the selectors hoping to use the series as a chance to blood some new bowlers, Sanath Jayasuriya said earlier in the week.
The batting is impressive though, led by skipper Angelo Mathews and including veterans Tillakaratne Dilshan, Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara. Nuwan Kulasekara adds experience to the bowling group.
Squad: Angelo Mathews, Kusal Perera, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Upul Tharanga, Kumar Sangakkara, Mahela Jayawardene, Ashan Priyanjan, Niroshan Dickwella, Thisara Perera, Nuwan Kulasekara, Dhammika Prasad, Lahiru Gamage, Chaturanga de Silva, Seekuge Prasanna, Suraj Randiv.
