Sri Lanka to host India, too

Sri Lanka, who were meant to tour India for three Test matches in August next year, will instead host the series.

The change comes after Sri Lanka Cricket agreed to replace the West Indies as the Indians’ opposition this month.

The tourists, earlier this week, abandoned the scheduled fifth ODI, one-off Twenty20 and three Test matches due to a dispute between the West Indies Players Association and West Indies Cricket Board.

“As we are obliging India with a five-match ODI series there next month, India are obliged to return the tour next year and we have switched the Test series,” said Sri Lanka Cricket secretary Nishantha Ranatunga.

The next available period for a Test series between India and Sri Lanka, according to the new Future Tours Programme, is in August 2017.
