Gayle, big players could be back in Windies fold

Chris Gayle and other big names could be part of West Indies’ ODI and Test sides in the future after it was revealed that tensions between senior players and the board could be coming to an end.

According to an article on ESPNCricinfo, Gayle and other players including Kieron Pollard, Sunil Narine, Dwayne Bravo and Chris Gayle could be back in fold after the West Indies Players Association (WIPA) called for peace talks.

The big-hitting Gayle played a T20I for the Windies against India in Jamaica last week but has not played in an ODI since the 2015 World Cup while his last Test appearance was in September 2014.

Gayle said: “The fans were happy to see me back on the field representing West Indies. Hopefully, things can get better. Hopefully I can play a few more games.

“I definitely want to play the 2019 World Cup. Things are beginning to open up a little more now between players and the board.

“It’s looking good, and we’ve to try and build from this to get the best players out on the field.”

Darren Bravo also appears to be back in the selection mix after the left-handed batsman issued an apology after calling West Indies board president a “big idiot” on twitter on last year.

Bravo and Cameron have both issued apologies for the episode that has seen 28-year-old in exile, not being allowed to play international or domestic cricket.
