Alex Hales, surprisingly, not among top 5 run-scorers in domestic T20 cricket in England

In England’s premier domestic T20 competition, runs are very much the currency with big-hitting stars from around the world featuring in the T20 Blast.
Explosive ball striking and rapid scoring are what make the shortest form of the game so exciting.
The T20 Blast is the oldest domestic T20 tournament with its inception in 2003.
Over the years, many players have built their legacies with incredible run-scoring prowess.

9. Wayne Madsen – 4,425 T20 runs
A pivotal part of his Derbyshire side, Madsen was consistent and could pace an innings parallel to the flow of the match.
In 163 matches he collected his runs at an average of 33.02 with a high score of 109 not out.
Masden never won a cap for South Africa but has played internationally for Italy.
He also made 39 appearances for South Africa’s national hockey team featuring in the 2006 Commonwealth Games and World Cup!
8. Samit Patel – 4,455 T20 runs
Both Patel’s longevity and adaptability have made him one of the most reliable all-rounders in the competition.
He’s hit 28 half-centuries in the T20 Blast and is also in the top nine wicket-takers in the history of the tournament.
He’s played franchise T20 cricket around the world and was a genuine all-round asset for whoever he represented.
7. Dawid Malan – 4,504 T20 runs
Malan has a reputation in T20 cricket for building big innings and has scored three Blast centuries.
His 4504 runs came at an average of 33.61 with a high score of 117.
Malan has been incredible for England across all formats having been born in Roehampton, however he spent much of his early cricketing life in South Africa.

6. Alex Hales – 4,825 T20 runs
Hales is renowned for his aggressive scoring and incredible six-hitting ability at the top of the order for Nottinghamshire.
He racked up his total with a blistering strike rate of 151.06 over 178 matches.
Despite his record in the competition, Hales has opted to skip the English 2025 domestic season to pursue franchise opportunities elsewhere.
5. Ravi Bopara – 4,828 T20 runs
Another all-rounder who’s in the top 9 for both runs and wickets in the Blast, Bopara has been an example of stylish strokeplay.
Over the years the three-county man has knocked two centuries and 27 fifties in his iconic domestic career.
However, it hasn’t all been T20 dominance, Bopara once turned down an Indian Premier League contract in favour of focussing on Test cricket.
4. Steven Croft – 5,018 T20 runs
Croft was one of Lancashire’s most dependable players for several years and a shoo-in in their middle order.
He joined the 5000 T20 Blast run club by claiming a lone century in addition to 26 half-centuries for the Old Trafford county.
His effectiveness in the field with regular acrobatic catches only added to his class.
3. Luke Wright – 5,026 T20 runs
Wright’s aggressive style of play for Sussex has made him one of the most dangerous batter’s in the history of the competition.
His high score of 153 not out remains one of the greatest scores in the T20 Blast.
In addition to his success in England, Wright became a fan favourite in Australia during his stint with the Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash League.
2. Joe Denly – 5,242 T20 runs
Denly’s strength was in his versatility with his ability to both anchor and kick on in innings serving him well.
He’s struck four centuries and 28 half-centuries in his T20 Blast career with bowlers regularly feeling his wrath.
The former multi-format England player also has a Blast hat-trick to his name with his part-time yet effective leg-spin.
1. James Vince – 5,830 T20 runs
Vince has been a model of consistency and flair for Hampshire and stands alone at the top of the list.
The opener seems to always thrive in the format with his temperament, game awareness and leadership setting him apart.
Vince has five Blast centuries and once captained England in a T20 International against Pakistan.
