The Gujarat Titans have one of the best win percentages in the IPL.

The Indian Premier League returns annually with the same showcase of the world’s most destructive and effective cricket stars in front of incredible fan bases guaranteed. But despite the nailed-on quality each season, the IPL has seen its fair share of change through the years.

Since its inception in 2008, the IPL has seen franchises rise and fall, with a select few remaining a consistent feature throughout the fiercely competitive competition.

Every side hunts for titles, but maintaining a positive win percentage builds the foundations for success and attracts the loudest fans and best talent to mount title charges year after year.

For some franchises, their legacies have been built brick by brick, but for others, it has been about hitting the ground running with instant impact in a battle that makes the IPL so iconic.

CRICKET365 have analysed the highest performing current IPL franchises and compared their win percentages during their respective competition tenures to date.

Let’s dive into the consistent IPL performers and teams that will be looking to turn the tide…

10. Punjab Kings – (IPL win percentage – 44.88%)

Despite being one of the original IPL franchises, the Punjab Kings have struggled to pull together consistent form with just 114 wins in their 254 matches.

It’s been over a decade since they reached the IPL Final since their runners up finish in 2014 where the influential Australian all-rounder, Glenn Maxwell, found his famous form with bat and ball.

Their passionate fanbase in Punjab have had little to celebrate with playoff appearances rare and players like KL Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan not having the influenced they would have hoped for.

9. Delhi Capitals (IPL win percentage – 45.00%)

Formerly the Delhi Daredevils, the Capitals have historically been underachievers in the IPL since its inception.

However, recent recruitment of young Indian stars has been instrumental in their recent rebuild, with the likes of Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer being fan favourites in the nation’s capital.

The 2020 COVID-19 season saw them have a best-ever IPL finish as they reached the final for the first time before losing to knockout specialists in the Mumbai Indians.

While they’ve been more successful in recent years, it’s a long way before they erase their stereotype of inconsistency.

8. Sunrisers Hyderabad (IPL win percentage – 46.59%)

Debuting in 2013 following the folding of the Deccan Chargers, Sunrisers Hyderabad quickly grew a reputation as a gritty, bowling-heavy IPL threat.

It took just four seasons to get over the line and secure their solo IPL title in 2016 under the capable captaincy of Australian opening batter, David Warner.

The likes of Rashid Khan and Bhuvneshwar Kumar have spearheaded their famously strong bowling attacks for a side that has regularly made playoffs and arguably punched above their weight.

7. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (IPL win percentage – 47.92%)

An iconic IPL franchise and one of the most followed due to the hero status of Virat Kohli, the franchise’s journey has been a rollercoaster ride.

Some legends of T20 cricket have worn the RCB colours with the star power of AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle being staples in their batting lineup through the years.

Despite their world leading talent through the years, their IPL trophy cabinet remains empty having reached the final and failed at the final hurdle three times in 2009, 2011 and 2016.

6. Rajasthan Royals (IPL win percentage – 48.48%)

Winners of the inaugural 2008 season under the stewardship of the late, great Shane Warne, the Royals have since had a curious journey.

The side in pink has often been regarded as the underdogs and hasn’t added another title since.

Some of their marquee signings have included Sanju Samson, Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Their focus on nurturing and producing promising young Indian cricketers helped the side reach the final in 2022, where they were runners-up.

5. Kolkata Knight Riders (IPL win percentage – 51.15%)

The Kolkata Knight Riders are one of the more successful sides in the IPL with two titles in 2012 and 2014.

Their dominant period under Gautam Gambhir was built upon disciplined bowling and aggressive batting.

While they haven’t reached those heights for a number of seasons, the franchise has a positive young history.

4. Mumbai Indians (IPL win percentage – 54.44%)

Simply the most successful team in IPL history with five titles (2013, 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2020), their lower win percentage comes as a result of their slow start during the league’s early years before their period of dominance.

For a number of seasons, they have been led by Rohit Sharma, who’s created a legacy built on squad depth, star power and effective leadership.

With elite seamers such as Lasith Malinga and Jasprit Bumrah wearing blue and gold, it’s easy to see how they led the way for so long.

3. Lucknow Super Giants (IPL win percentage – 54.71%)

A relative newcomer to the IPL in the 2022 season, the Lucknow Super Giants have impressed, reaching the playoffs twice in their first two seasons.

International firepower through the likes of Quinton de Kock and Marcus Stoinis has been instrumental in allowing them to hit the ground running and make an instant impact in the Indian Premier League.

They may not have yet gone deep in the playoffs, but early signs are certainly promising.

2. Chennai Super Kings (IPL win percentage – 56.45%)

One of the league’s most iconic teams, the Chennai Super Kings, has been the epitome of consistency with 12 playoff appearances and five titles (2010, 2011, 2018, 2021 and 2023)

The leadership of MS Dhoni has been pivotal with his timeless performances and longevity making him the face of the franchise.

The side has a winning culture and is almost always in the mix for IPL glory.

1. Gujarat Titans (IPL win percentage – 64.15%)

No team has had as instant an impact as the Gujarat Titans, who won the title in their inaugural 2022 season under the captaincy of Hardik Pandya and made another final the following year.

Their combination of fearless batting, cunning bowling and strategy has made them one of the competition’s leading forces.

An ability to be successful under the greatest pressure makes them a constant threat in the IPL.
