The Mumbai Indians are one of the IPL’s most successful franchises, having won the competition a record-equalling five times.
They’ve seen some of the best T20 bowlers from around the world in their ranks as well as being a platform for some of India’s greatest cricketing talents.
But which bowlers have led the way for the Mumbai Indians with the most wickets in the IPL?

9. Rahul Chahar – 41 wickets in 39 MI matches
His leg spin was a key weapon for Mumbai, particularly in the middle overs.
In 39 matches, he took 41 wickets at an average of 25.82 and an economy of 7.40, with best figures of 4/27.
His ability to outfox bat with sharp turn and variations made him a standout performer for the franchise.
Chahar was originally a fast bowler before switching to leg spin under the guidance of his uncle.
8. Munaf Patel – 42 wickets in 32 MI matches
Patel brought experience and precision to the Mumbai attack striking at an impressive average of 20.92.
His 5/21 in 2011 remains one of the best bowling performances in MI history, showcasing his lethal swing bowling.
Despite being a ruthless paceman, he started as a wicketkeeper before turning his time to bowling.
7. Krunal Pandya – 51 wickets in 84 MI matches
The first of the Pandya brothers on the list was a helpful all-rounder for the Mumbai Indians with his dominant bowling and helpful runs with the bat.
A pivotal all-round performance including 47 runs from 38 balls and 2/26 in the 2017 IPL final was instrumental in his franchise’s narrow one-run victory.
Despite being the older Pandya brother, he was second to make his debut for India.

6. Hardik Pandya – 53 wickets in 106 MI matches
The current Mumbai Indians captain has again been a key part of the franchise with equal contributions from bat and ball.
He averaged 32.07 with a ball and in 2019, he delivered a crucial spell of 3/20 combined with a 91-run blitz to beat the Kolkata Knight Riders.
Pandya was once a leg spinner in his early years before switching to pace under the guidance of his coaches.
5. Mitchell McClenaghan – 71 wickets in 56 MI matches
The New Zealand was a T20 cricket specialist whose bowling was crucial for the Mumbai Indians in their dominant spell.
His best bowling figures of 4/21 and economy of 8.49 are a testament to his tenacious efforts with the ball.
In the 2017 final McClenagan‘s tight spell helped MI defend a low total, playing a key role in their title win.
4. Kieron Pollard – 79 wickets in 211 MI matches
The franchise legend and tall West Indies all-rounder featured 211 times for the side with best bowling figures of 4/44.
In 2012, he bowled a magical 4/44 against the Rajasthan Royals while also smashing a match-winning 64* with the bat, proving why he was the franchise’s ultimate all-rounder.
He truly was a limited-over specialist who contributed with bat, ball and in the field.
3. Harbhajan Singh – 147 wickets in 158 MI matches
The Indian spinner was not only a national hero but was truly loved in Mumbai.
His stunning economy of 6.96 along with two four-wicket hauls and best figures of 5/18 showed he was an accomplished three-format star.
Singh was instrumental in MI’s first title-winning campaign in 2013, with crucial spells in the playoffs, including a match-winning 3/23 against the Rajasthan Royals.
The spinner once took a hat-trick in a test match at Eden Gardens in 2001 showing the versatility of his bowling.
2. Jasprit Bumrah – 168 wickets in 136 MI matches
Bumrah is one of India’s most accomplished fast bowlers with his devastating deliveries ripping teams apart.
He’s contained batting lineups with a career economy of 7.31 for the franchise and has two 5-wicket hauls to his name.
His unorthodox action developed naturally while playing tennis ball cricket in his back garden, which helped him master his famous pinpoint yorkers.
1. Lasith Malinga – 195 wickets in 139 MI matches
The Sri Lanka star is currently the franchise’s best bowler with his devastating yorkers ripping up the IPL.
The best bowling figures of 5/13, an average of 19.35 and an economy of 7.12 cement his position as one of the Mumbai Indians greats.
His last-over heroics in the 2019 IPL final against the Chennai Super Kings will forever be remembered.
With two runs needed off the last ball, he bowled a perfect slower ball yorker to dismiss Shardul Thakur and seal the franchise’s fourth title.
