Plunkett roped in to replace Rabada in IPL

England fast bowler Liam Plunkett has been named as the Delhi Daredevils replacement for injured Proteas quick Kagiso Rabada.
Rabada complained of stiffness and pain in his lower back during the fourth Test against Australia with scans revealing a back-stress reaction.
The quick has been ordered to rest with a view to being fit for South Africa’s tour to Sri Lanka in July.
The Daredevils secured the services of Plunkett for his listed auction base price of INR 2 crore (USD 308,000 approx).
Plunkett joins a large English contingent in this year’s IPL with the ECB relaxing their stance on internationals competing in the T20 showpiece.
The Yorkshire and England quick had previously stated his ambition to fight for a Test place in domestic red ball cricket but now looks set to miss some of the longer format while earning a sizeable purse in India.
The county had no issue with Plunkett’s participation in the Bangladesh Premier League and would have allowed the quick to go to South Africa had the Global T20 League not been shelved but the IPL clashes with the early English domestic season.
The tournament has proven to be beneficial for a number of players careers though developing their white ball skills while offering the chance to earn large sums of money.
Plunkett has established himself as one of England’s limited overs stalwarts and the Daredevils will be hoping he helps them in their quest for a maiden Indian Premier League title.
