Watson to captain Royal Challengers

Australian Shane Watson has been named captain of the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the absence of the injured AB de Viliers, ahead of Wednesday’s 2017 Indian Prmeier League opening fixture against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in Uppal.
De Villiers has been sidelined from this fixture by a back injury. Regular skipper Virat Kohli, too, will be absent due to a hurt shoulder.
“AB still has some minor discomfort and we felt that couple of days off would be best before we have him back in action,” said Bangalore coach and former New Zealand all-rounder Daniel Vettori.
“We hope to see him on the field in good form by 8th April match against Delhi Daredevils.”
Meanwhile, Royal Challangers batsman Sarfraz Khan is nursing a leg injury – and will likely be ruled out of the entire tournament.
The Royal Challengers lost to the Hyderabad outfit in the 2016 IPL final.
