Afghanistan will play their inaugural Test against India in Bengaluru on 14-18 June, both the country’s cricket boards confirmed on Tuesday.
Ireland, along with Afghanistan, were given Test status by the ICC in June last year, with Ireland announcing their first ever Test will be against Pakistan in Malahide in May.
India agreed to be Afghanistan’s first opponents in the longest format in December and have now confirmed that the game will be played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium later this year.
Both country’s cricket boards announced the news on their respective twitter accounts.
Afghanistan enjoyed a good World T20 in India in 2016, giving England a close game before beating eventual champions West Indies in the group stage.
