Afridi new T20I captain

All-rounder Shahid Afridi has been named Pakistan's new Twenty20 International captain.
All-rounder Shahid Afridi has been named Pakistan's new Twenty20 International captain.
Batsman Mohammad Hafeez resigned from the coveted position after an early exit at the World Twenty20 in Bangladesh earlier this year.
"In line with my policy of taking decisions democratically I consulted the cricket committee and my board members before announcing these decisions," said Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Shaharyar Khan.
The 34-year-old Afridi held the post previously, for 19 T20Is between August 2009 and April 2011. The veteran Misbah-ul-Haq, meanwhile, has retained the Test and ODI captaincy.
"I wish both Afridi and Misbah very good luck in their upcoming assignments," added Khan.
The Pakistanis and Australians will meet for a one-off Twenty20 International, three ODIs and two Tests – in Sharjah, Dubai and Abu Dhabi – between 5 October and 3 November.
