England all-rounder Ben Stokes is getting frustrated with having to wait for his wrist to heal, and cannot wait to get back to training, though he must wait on a scan next week.

Stokes broke a bone in his wrist in March, when he punched a locker after being dismissed against the West Indies in the Caribbean. This saw him miss the World Twenty20, and he's not been able to play since.

The 22-year-old told ecb.co.uk at a promotional event at Covent Garden: "The injury is going well. We're on track with the rehab.

"I've got a scan on May 12 which will give myself a better indication of when I can get back in the nets and hopefully get back on the park.

"It is a CT scan, which will get into the bone and see how it's healing and then the people who make the big decisions will tell me what I can do.

"It's pretty limited in what I can do. I've been running for the past two or three weeks and body weight stuff. I'm not allowed to grip anything so it's been a pretty boring six weeks.

"The fact is I haven't been able to do anything, which doesn't go with my character at all. I always like to be busy and active so I'm champing at the bit to get back out there."
