Ashwin brushes off World T20 criticism
Spinner Ravi Ashwin has brushed off the criticism he received after India lost in the World T20 semifinal against the West Indies, saying he never had the opportunity to effect the game.
Ashwin, who was thought to be India's main strike bowler going into the tournament, only bowled two overs for 20 runs and did not bowl again as the Windies won in the last over bowled by part-timer Virat Kohli.
The 29-year-old Ashwin said: "It's very amusing because for the first 12 balls I bowled I created a wicket-opportunity as well. It's quite surprising the way you phrase your question."
Asked how as he coped with the high expectations of a home tournament only to be knocked out in the last four, Ashwin put in perspective.
He said: "The day I went back home my dog had a heat stroke. He had fits. It just showed me what's more important and what is very, very important in life.
"I didn't turn a piece of paper for the next three days. So I haven't really read about what people have said."
