Ashwin will be ready for Proteas Tests

India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin says he will be ready for the four-match Test series against South Africa, starting on 5 November in Mohali.

Ashwin was injured on 11 October in Kanpur during the first ODI against the Proteas and missed the rest of the five-match series to recover for the Test series, which starts on November 5 and seed home side India emerge as slight favourites with Paddy Power in the betting odds.

The offspinner is India's most potent weapon and was man of the series in their last Test series, away to Sri Lanka, and they would want him firing against an experienced Proteas batting line-up.

The African team have not lost a Test away from home since 2006.

Ashwin said: "I'm close to achieving full fitness and I'm feeling fine. I'm confident of bowling well in the series. It will be a close contest.

"South Africa is an excellent side and they have adapted to the conditions very well. It will be a tough challenge and we will be up for it."
