Big Bash to help Buttler preparation
England wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler will use a brief stint with the Melbourne Renegades during the Big Bash League as solid preparation for next month's limted-overs series against Australia.
England wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler will use a brief stint with the Melbourne Renegades during the Big Bash League as solid preparation for next month's limted-overs series against Australia.
Buttler has been named in the ODI and Twenty20 International touring parties, while batsman Kevin Pietersen, spinner Graeme Swann and fast bowler James Anderson have been rested.
"Obviously anytime you get picked for an England squad it's a very proud moment and an exciting one, so I'm really looking forward to the ODI series and the T20Is after," Buttler told the England and Wales Cricket Board's official website.
"We'll be looking to get success out the series hopefully. It will be tough in a foreign country and particularly in Australia with their home conditions. Touring anywhere is always tough but we need to perform to the best of our ability and win the series."
The hard-hitting Buttler will be available for the Renegades' fixtures against the Melbourne Stars, Perth Scorchers, Brisbane Heat and Hobart Hurricanes before the first ODI gets underway on 12 January.
"Having been here with the England Performance Programme and watching the Ashes from afar it's hard cricket. So it will be a tough place to play and I'm sure it will be a hard series, which is really exciting and that's what you want to be a part of," he concluded.
