Bopara hopes to be part of England revival
England all-rounder Ravi Bopara has been in superb form for Essex this season, especially with the white ball, and hopes his efforts will see him included in the limited-overs series against the Australians.
Bopara has not been part of the Ashes Tests, even though he scored a century against the Aussies in a warm-up match, but feels he can contribute well to the newly energised and victorious side come the shorter format games.
Bopara told the ECB website: "I said in a newspaper interview straight after the World Cup that England needed to change the culture and develop a more carefree attitude, which was missing in the winter, so it’s great to see they listened to me!
"Joking apart, it was great to see players performing to their natural ability at last and I am working hard to get back into the England set-up.
"The big positive is that England are now catching up with the rest of the world in one-day cricket and we should be a different prospect by the time of next year’s T20 World Cup."
Bopara has been playing much more aggressively with the bat this season, helping Essex to the latter stages of both the T20 Blast and the One-Day Cup, and said: "I think this style suits me perfectly, as I have always tried to play this way.
"So hopefully, it won't be too long before I am wearing the England shirt again.
