England all-rounder Ravi Bopara starred in the Sixers' comfortable six-wicket triumph over the Thunder in Saturday's Big Bash League fixture at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
Bopara, who has bee named in the squad for next month's limited-overs series against Australia, clinched the key wicket of batsman Eoin Morgan and then struck a quickfire 27 not out.
Fellow Englishman Chris Woakes proved economical during the Sixers' pursuit, but couldn't garner enough support to prevent defeat with 10 deliveries to spare.
"I'm not entirely using this as a way to get acclimatised, this is a very important competition, not only to the club but to myself as well," Bopara told ESPNcricinfo earlier this week.
"I'd love to come and do well, and hopefully have a future in the Big Bash as well, it's not just about these four games – it would be a lovely place to keep coming back to play."
