England fast bowler Stuart Broad and wicketkeeper Matt Prior are both on the road to recovery after their respective surgeries, both taking place on Thursday in the hopes of a return by January.
Broad underwent an operation on his knee after persistent patella tendonitis kept interrupting his tours and rhythm, while Prior took care of a long-term Achilles problem, which had impacted his form.
Broad is looking to be recovered to return to the ODI side in January, so that he can be ready for the World Cup the next month, while Prior's recovery time is a bit more vague. Jos Buttler is keeping him out of the side anyway.
A statement on Thursday night read: "The ECB medical team today confirmed that England and Nottinghamshire bowler Stuart Broad has undergone an operation on his right patella tendon.
"Broad will begin a rehabilitation and recovery programme ahead of the tri-series against Australia and India early next year.
"England and Sussex wicketkeeper Matt Prior has undergone surgery on his left Achilles and will begin a rehabilitation and recovery programme with England and Sussex over the winter period."
