Broad annoyed with 'disrespectful' Vaughan

England fast bowler Stuart Broad reacted with irritation at the criticism directed at the team's ODI selection, saying it was 'disrespectful' to call the squad to face Australia a second-string side.
The ODI squad named on Tuesday saw Alastair Cook, James Anderson, Graeme Swann, Ian Bell and Broad rested, which prompted former England captain Michael Vaughan to say on Twitter: "I would have only rested Captain Cook..
"Plenty of time to rest from Sept 16th – Nov 21st!!!? Can't sell tickets then rest 5 star names!!!! No problems resting players but I think supporters who have paid good money to watch the best should get a small refund…"
Broad said when asked about the criticism surrounding the selections: "I'd be hesitant to be too disrespectful to the players who are going to put on the England shirt and go and play.
"It's a hugely-talented squad and there will be some very exciting players who will get their opportunity against the Aussies.
"Some people might forget that we got to the Champions Trophy final, some guys have played five pretty much back-to-back Ashes Test matches so I suppose the other way to go is to bowl until you pretty much break your back.
"But fortunately we get looked after better than that now. As I say I think it's disrespectful to the guys who are going out there on the field.
"There are boys who have performed throughout the county season to get a chance at international level. As an ODI team we are building towards 2015 World Cup, there's no doubt about that.
"We need to have a big group of players going into the World Cup who have an experience of international caps. They wouldn't be in squad if they are not good enough to play.
"That ODI squad will be very focused on beating Australia. I know if I was paying to go and watch I want to go and watch England beating Australia. That's it."
