England all-rounder Stuart Broad remains confident that he will regain fitness in the lead-up to the World Cup next year after he underwent right knee surgery last month.
Broad had been struggling with a knee injury for most of the last 12 months but finally went under the knife on September 4 in an attempt to fix the problem.
So far, his recovery is going to plan and he is confident of joining up with the England Lions camp ahead of their series in Australia in January next year.
"The knee is coming on well, it's nearly a month since I've had surgery," the 28-year-old told the official England Cricket Board website.
"I'm back in the gym doing certain bits of weights now and hoping to maybe get on a camp pre-Christmas with the Lions. The 6th of January is my aim to get on that flight (to Australia).
"I planned it really carefully and I should be in good stead to go on that flight."
Broad's likely return to the squad will be in the tri-series against Australia and India, which starts at the MCG on February 14, 2015.
