Bumrah replaces injured Shami in T20 squad

India have added uncapped Mumbai Indians paceman Jasprit Bumrah to their T20 squad for the upcoming series against Australia, replacing the injured Mohammad Shami.

Shami, who has not played for the national side since starring in the World Cup last year, injured his hamstring during the ODI series in Australia.

The 22 year-old Bumrah has taken 14 wickets in nine games, joint highest in the competition, for Gujarat in a domestic T20 competition.

The right-arm seamer also picked up 21 scalps in nine games in the recently completed 50-over domestic tournament, also the highest in the tournament.

Former India pacer RP Singh, who played alongside Bumrah for Gujarat this season, said:  "He has got a bit of pace. He has got a superb yorker.

"The other thing is that his action gives him a bit of an advantage, it takes people a little bit of time to pick him."
