Wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler has been added to England's squad for the first Test against India, which will get underway at Trent Bridge in Nottingham on Wednesday.
Buttler, has played 33 ODIs and 36 Twenty20 Internationals but is not yet capped in the longest format of the international game, has been drafted in as injury cover for the veteran Matt Prior.
Prior, who recovered from an Achilles injury prior to last month's series against Sri Lanka, hurt a thigh muscle during practice on Monday.
"Prior will continue to be assessed during the training session on Tuesday before a decision is made about his fitness," read a statement from the England and Wales Cricket Board.
The right-handed Buttler has enjoyed a solid first-class season, scoring 491 runs – including a century and four half-tons – in Division One of the ongoing County Championship.
